Jamie & Dustin - summer 2013 |
Years ago I created a newsletter entitled "Purple Girl's Pen" (because of my obsession for the color purple I can only assume) and charged my family 25 cent subscriptions for a monthly publication I printed on our brand-new-super-awesome-color-printer (this was the early 90's). Here I compiled my ramblings, world news, and a crossword puzzle I physically typed out. Every now and then I'd throw in some trivia and spice it up.
So creative.
It's difficult to get into publishing (don't worry, I have since disregarded the clever "Purple Girl's Pen" title) as readers are changing to e-readers and online subscriptions. Therefore, I thought why not create a blog where I can continue rambling and NOT charge my family and friends 25 cents?
Thus the creation of this blog where I share my thoughts on God's creation - including the books I'm reading, food I'm baking, projects I'm working on, and things growing (or forgetting to grow) in my garden

ABOUT ME
My husband - Dustin - and I live in Canton, Ohio where we planted Radial Church. We are the proud parents of a rabbit named Esther Bunny and loving the life God has blessed us with. We enjoy bicycling, eating, traveling and having adventures! One day, we hope to visit all MLB ballparks and ride our bicycles cross-country. Maybe we can ride our bikes TO the parks... eh?
CREATING PENCIL & PIPE
CS Lewis & his trusty pipe |
This blog was originally created as part of a project for a Field Study class at Ashland Theological Seminary in which I led a bookclub and blog dedicated to the famed theologian C.S. Lewis.
The name for the blog is taken from a quote (which my husband often uses to enable his pipe-smoking habit) where Lewis states:
“I believe that many who find that "nothing happens" when they sit down, or kneel down, to a book of devotion, would find that the heart sings unbidden while they are working their way through a tough bit of theology with a pipe in their teeth and a pencil in their hand.”
With that said, feel free to join the discussion and contribute your thoughts, ideas, projects & more.
